Douye is a meticulous and innovative lawyer with an excellent grasp of energy law and extensive experience in the oil and gas sector. Her practice focuses on Energy, Infrastructure and Compliance. In the course of her career, she has advised various clients locally and across border on commercial transactions bordering on joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, compliance, local content, upstream contracts, taxation and dispute resolution. She is also skilled in drafting and negotiating oil and gas contracts ranging from Joint Operating Agreements to Farm-ins and Technical Service Agreements among others.
Prior to joining Legal Answers, Douye was a Legal Advisor for Aiteo Eastern E & P Company, an indigenous oil and gas company. She was also part of a team that advised on a $2.56 billion acquisition of Shell, Total, and NAOC’s stake on OML 29 and the Nembe Creek Trunkline (NCTL).
Douye holds an LLB from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, and an LLM in Oil and Gas from University of Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom. She is a member of the International Bar Association, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK, as well as the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, USA.
